phpBB geliştirme süreci ve sürümleri ile ilgili planlanan bazı iyileştirmeleri duyurmaktan çok mutluyuz. Bu değişiklikler phpBB 2.0.x ve 3.0.x geliştirilmesi deneyimlerinin doğrudan sonucu olarak ortaya çıkmıştır ve geliştirme sürüm (release) stratejisi ve sürüm numaralandırmasını etkileyecektir.

phpBB 3.0.x ile geçen 2 büyük yıl ve cesur 3.2.x planlarından sonra, 3.0.x geliştirilmesi sırasında karşılaşılanlara benzer problemlerle yeniden karşılaşıyoruz. phpBB topluluğuna daha sağlam bir çalışma zemini sağlamak için, aşağıdaki değişiklikleri tartıştık ve bir karar verdik.

Sürüm numaralandırma sistemi

Şu anda, artık phpBB için uygun olmadığına inandığımız eski Linux çekirdek sürüm numaralandırma sistemi kullanmaktayız. Bundan sonra phpBB için tasarlanmış ve kontrollü sürüm yayınlamaya uyumlu yeni bir özel sistem kullanacağız.

X.Y.Z planını kullanmaya devam edeceğiz, ilk rakam majör versiyon, ikinci rakam gelecekte yeni özellik olan sürümleri ve son rakam da bakım sürümlerini temsil etmektedir. Daha önceki durumdan farklı olarak, tek/çift numaralara hiçbir önem verilmeyecektir, böylece arka arkaya numaralar (0,1,2,3...) kullanılacaktır.

Yayınlama stratejisi

Herhangi bir anda 2 tane desteklenen dal (branch) olmasını planlıyoruz; kararlı bir dal (şu anki 3.0.x) ve (planlanan 3.1.x) bir özellik dalı. Kararlı dallar yeni bir özellik sürümü yayınlanmasından sonra 6-9 ay daha desteklenmeye devam edilecektir. Kesin tarihler tema ve eklenti yazarlarına kendi paketlerini yayınlamayı koordine etmeleri için önceden duyurulacaktır.
